Who is never bothered by it? It is heading towards 4:00 pm, lunch has left the stomach and is finding its way into the intestines. The stomach is therefore empty and requires new nutrition. But it is too early for dinner. What options are there that are healthy, give some energy again and do not spoil the evening meal. A number of possibilities.
soup
Depending on the possibilities at work, school, etc., soup is filling, easy to digest and healthy. Of course there are always options to take the well-known soup from the bag, but a number of these soups are quite salty. A light version is now also for sale. If there is a possibility to take a bowl of fresh soup with you, for example in a cup that can be put in the microwave, then that is recommended.
Take a cracker and the stomach can handle it again.
Sandwiches
Preparing or taking a few small sandwiches with you is also delicious and healthy. The bread sandwich with toppings cut into triangles can provide just what you need so late in the afternoon. In total no more than 1.5 slice of bread. Consider, for example, a sandwich of milk-white bread with a thin layer of marmalade or as a topping a leaf of lettuce, slices of cucumber and curry powder or spread a thin layer of curry salad over it. Young cheese with half a cherry tomato and a pinch of pepper on the sandwich is also tasty and healthy.
Fruit
Fruit is always good, but in the late afternoon not all fruit provides what you need on that. A bunch of grapes, a small bowl of strawberries, berries or cherries will do fine. Many like to sprinkle sugar on it, but try to avoid this. But a tasty apple always works well. Another alternative is to put together a fruit blend yourself. The container must be properly closed, but some pieces of apple, orange slices, pineapple, grapes and pieces of melon can also be a great alternative.
Raw vegetables
Raw vegetables are not always obvious, but they are tasty and healthy. Prepare a well-sealed container in the morning with, for example, some piece of cucumber, carrot, celeriac and radish. For the tomato lover there can also be some cherry or candy. tomatoes can be added.
Other
Of course a cup of tea, coffee or chocolate milk with a cookie is also an option, but limit the amount of sugar in the coffee or tea and take a speculaasje, mariakoekje or the like and do not start with the large filled or glazed cakes.
