Radio stations, Madame Tussauds wax museum and a publishing house are taking steps in response to the broadcast of ANGRY about sexually transgressive behavior at The Voice of Holland. Radio stations of the NPO and Talpa no longer play songs by Ali B and Marco Borsato, who were accused of misconduct in the broadcast.
“We see the shocking stories in ANGRY and the enormous outrage among the public about it. That is why we have decided to no longer include the music in the playlists of the NPO radio stations,” said the spokesperson.
He cannot say whether and when the music of the two artists will be played on NPO channels again. The radio stations of Talpa, the company of The Voicecreator John de Mol, will stop broadcasting music from the two artists. That means that the two can no longer be heard on stations such as 538, Radio 10, Sky Radio, Radio Veronica, 100% NL and Slam. Qmusic also announced that it would no longer play the music.
The director of Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam and DJ Koen Hansen of 100%NL about their decision:
The wax museum in Amsterdam is also taking steps. “Due to the social impact of the documentary, we have decided not to exhibit the image of Marco Borsato for the time being,” says Madame Tussauds director Quinten Luykx. The museum is awaiting the investigation before determining whether the image of the singer will return.
The statue of Ali B has not been part of the collection for “about five to seven years”. In 2004, the artist was the first rapper ever to be seen in the museum. “But we get about seven new images a year, so images are often removed again.”
Statues that disappear from Madame Tussauds’ collection are destroyed. That also happened with the image of Ali B.
