Italy has won the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. Rock band Måneskin got on with the song Zitti e buoni 524 points. The bookmakers already saw Italy as a big favorite in advance.
The victory was mainly due to the votes of the public. After the jury’s had awarded their points, Italy was still fourth. Jeangu Macrooy was unable to break any pot for the Netherlands. With Birth of a new age he finished in 23rd place.
During the scoring, a conflict quickly developed between the French-speaking numbers of Switzerland and France. For Switzerland, Gjon’s Tears performed with Tout l’Univers and Barbara Pravi performed the chanson for France Voilà heard.

After the points were awarded by the juries of the different countries, Switzerland was in first place with 19 points ahead of France. But, as is often the case, the points of the ‘televoters’ changed the result considerably. In the end, France finished in second place and Switzerland came third.
The United Kingdom finished 26th and last. The country, which as one of the ‘Big Five’ is always automatically placed for the final, received zero points from both the professional jury and the public. The ‘Big Five’ are the countries that contribute the most to the organization and therefore always make it to the final round of the festival.
Jeangu Macrooy also received little support from the European public. He was allowed to receive 11 points from the jury’s, but got zero from the televoters.
