Chatting ladies at a tea table. Colorful cups and saucers. Cheerful crockery, duvets, clothing, stamps ?? You can hardly imagine if Blond Amsterdam painted it. The creations are seen as true art and sold all over the world. A bit of BLOND every day!
Blond Amsterdam
Eight years ago, the two friends from Brabant Femque van Geffen and Janneke Dröge started a small studio in the Amsterdam Spuistraat. Both just graduated from art school, they painted personal mugs, teapots and paintings. The girls had a common mission: to make people happy through colorful paintwork. Blond Amsterdam was born and became a great success. The studio in Spuistraat became too small and had to be exchanged for a canal house on the Singel. In the front of the shop space, in the back of the studio: the blond girls sit in plain sight every day, painting plates, bowls and mugs. The crockery then goes into the cellar, because that is where the oven is to bake the ceramic products. Everything in that colorful, almost childish style.
Popularity
What is the reason that the brand has become so popular? One thing stands out about the designer duo’s creations: they are crazy, original, cheerful and appropriate. Blond Amsterdam stands for a certain attitude to life. It’s lighthearted, positive, naive and accessible. It brings color to life. Blonde is always in good spirits and positive. So their mission has certainly been successful.
Collection
Within a few years the Blond collection has expanded enormously. Started with the crockery ?? a chat ?? Van Geffen and Dröge have really taken care of everything. With great success.
Crockery?
There is a distinction between plain crockery or with text. Furthermore, there is a complete ?? baking and roasting ?? collection with oven dishes and baking trays, all in the trendy, cheerful Blonde colors. Decorated cake forks, teaspoons, napkins, tea boxes, tea caps and pot holders complete this collection.
Tableware ‘Delfts Blond’
A nostalgic service with a nod to the past, in a modern lively version. The trendy Delft blue and the red-white-blue adorn a complete tableware set with all kinds of accessories, comparable to “just catching up”. Striking is the Blond Dutch cheese slicer and the matching apron.

This jewelry line was set up in collaboration with “Beadies”, also two creative friends in Amsterdam. The collection consists of bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Many types and colors of beads have been used.

Books
Blond Amsterdam has also published a number of books. It’s about Beautiful Blond, a handy book full of make-up and beauty tips, Nice Blonde ??, a book full of ideas to do with friends, Nice Blond ??, a cookbook with easy, fast and tasty recipes and finally ??Dutch Bites ??, a cookbook with traditional Dutch recipes, such as homemade croquettes.
Clothes
A clothing line should not be missing from the Blond collection. Van Geffen and Dröge work together with a stylist from Men at Work. It is casual clothing that is easy to wear, such as jogging pants, sweaters and t-shirts. Everything printed with Blond prints and texts.
Greeting cards and stamps
Tickets are available from Blond in all kinds of categories. What is new is the Christmas stamp 2009. They have become cheerful December stamps that are depicted in all kinds of colors and decorated with presents or windows with an inside view.
Personal Blonde
In the store in Amsterdam it is also possible to have an item painted personally. You can have a mug, plate, storage jar, flat dish or sink painted or personalized for a wedding or birth, for example. The waiting time is approximately 10 weeks.
Blonde conquers the world
Blond shops are not only found in the Netherlands. Blond Amsterdam is also for sale in Switzerland and Germany. But that the girls’ work is really hip and hot, is evident from the fact that celebrities such as Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, Kylie Minogue and Jamie Olivier use the Blond articles every day. The tableware and school supplies are available all over Europe, but even in Japan. The loose, cheerful and airy design apparently catches on everywhere, paying tribute to the creativity of the Blonde ladies.
