One grows up with dogs and there it may even go without saying that he / she also takes a dog in adulthood and the other distances themselves when a dog crosses the path. And then there is a very large intermediate group, but with the large numbers of dogs in our society, it is an accepted pet that can give its owners a lot of pleasure. Still, it is good not to go on ice overnight if you want to buy a pet.
What kind of dog?
Before you get a dog, ask yourself some questions to be sure whether a dog should come or not. Just being a dog lover is not enough. After all, a dog shares your life for a minimum of 7 to 8 years for a number of larger breeds, up to maybe 15 years with somewhat smaller breeds. In addition, you also get practical things such as regularly walking a dog, there must be time for that.
Besides the fact that tastes differ and one prefers a large, short-haired, trained dog and the other a nice small, long-haired dog, it is important how much time you can and want to spend playing and walking the dog. Some breeds need a lot of exercise and need to be kept busy, while there are plenty of breeds that can get along with a few short walks a day. Then it is also about whether there are children, not every dog is suitable for dealing with (small) children. You may have other pets that the dog needs to get along with or you may not be sure whether it should be a puppy or an adult dog. After all, some people consciously want a male or female and other people don’t care. Once you have identified those answers, you can only start looking for a purebred dog at the breeder or in the shelter.
Going to buy a dog
Orientation is actually a must, but many people go for the ax when they walk into the breeder or shelter. Still, it is better to determine in advance that you do not make a decision during the first visits and certainly do not bring a dog home. If you have trouble with it, make sure you don’t have any money or debit card with you.
Make decision and buy
If you have orientated yourself well on the internet and visited breeders and one or more shelters, you can make the decision what it will be. Often dogs in a litter are already divided ?? by the breeder. Certainly with the breeds where breeding is more difficult or which are very popular, there are often queues. Yet it is important to have an immediate click with an animal and go to asylum? where the dog is already ?? usually a bit better.
Bread breeders
Avoid picking up a dog just like that through an advertisement or from a pet store. Always verify the background, which should always be possible with purebred dogs. A recognized breeder is affiliated with the breed club and the chance of a healthy dog is many times greater. If you still want to accept an advertisement, make sure you come to people’s homes. See where the dog grew up during the first weeks of life, look at the mother (and possibly the father), does the animal live in the house or in a shed, is it a family with children, what do the dogs look like (eyes, ears, coat etc.). If the feeling is not right and there is no mother, then don’t. This, unless you want to be the lifesaver and save the dog. Check with the vet and report what you have experienced with this bread breeder or dealer (you can contact animal protection and police for this). Ask for the vaccination booklet, at least the first puppy injections must have been given.
Licensed breeder
Normally, a breeder will not breed many breeds, one or two, usually that’s it. These breeders do not have continuous litters and the litters are in the domestic ?? clean – brought up environment. The dogs should be happy when the breeder comes close, something is not right when the dogs run away. A dog must not be taken for 7 weeks. At this age there is at least one puppy injection and the dog may already have been microchipped. Adjust the nutrition, sometimes you get something, and you can always go to a good breeder with your questions.
Found your dog ?? then take it home
When you have found a suitable dog, he / she will go home. It is almost always advisable to take the dog on obedience training. The puppy must first follow the puppy course. Of course the dog must also immediately have its own place and some toys that are really only for the dog. A puppy may accidentally pee indoors, just put it on and don’t punish. Try to pick up the signal that the dog needs to urinate in time. ??No?? say if he / she wants to do something and take the puppy outside immediately. This way the dog will understand the fastest that he / she has to pee (and the rest) outside. Regularity is good for the dog and just like with children, it also applies to the dog that the signals about something that is and is not allowed, must be clear. Also introduce the dog to all kinds of sounds.
Finally
A dog can complement your life for years, but it will last for years, so making an informed decision is not a luxury.
