They are beautiful, colorful and smell wonderful. I’m talking about flowers. We see them everywhere. In gardens and houses, but also as prints on clothing, paintings, crockery, etc. Girls love flowers, so this is an excellent theme to use at a children’s party. What are great ideas for this theme?
Invitations:
There are several invitations that go well with the floral theme.
Rose
Use crepe paper to make florets. Cut a piece with a thickness of 2 to 3 centimeters. Roll out the paper and fold it back together. Hold the bottom with your thumb and index finger. The top is therefore open. Use masking tape to secure the bottom. Satay sticks can serve as a stalk. Stick the rose on the skewer and wrap the skewer in crepe paper. Stick or tie your invitation to the rose.
Floral card
Get a piece of colored craft paper. Cut out a piece the size of a card. Fold it in half. Look on the internet for beautiful images of flowers and print them out. Stick them on the front of the card. On the inside you can write the invitation text and possibly stick some flowers. Of course you can also use some flower stickers to stick on the card.
Seeds
Stick a bag with flower seeds to the invitation card. The children can then sow these at home.
Hawaii wreath
When handing out the invitations, give a Hawaii wreath as a gift. These are cheap to obtain and go well with the flower theme.
Activities
There are various fun activities to think of that match the flower theme.
Floral wreath
Have the children make florets out of crepe paper (like with invitations described). Shop hobby stores or the Internet for Styrofoam wreaths. Here the paper roses can be glued or inserted. Choose different colors of crepe paper.
Face painting
Let the children paint on the theme of flowers. This can be the whole face, but also a few beautiful flowers on the cheek. Use beautiful colors and glitter. You can do this yourself, but of course you can also hire someone.
Flower arrangements
Get trays, oasis and decorative flowers on a stem. The children can use this to make nice flower arrangements. You can also add other decoration such as apples, cherries, leaves etc …
Painting
Let the children make a beautiful flower painting that they can take home afterwards. This can be done with paint, crayon, crayon, glitter pens, etc.
Cookies
Bake cookies with the kids. Get baking molds in the shape of flowers or let the children make flowers from the dough themselves. Let the kids decorate the cookies when they are done.
Apron
Let the children make their own aprons with the theme of flowers. This can be done by using paint, felt-tip pens, glitter pens, stamps, templates, etc. This can be fun in combination with baking cookies.
Flower garden
If the weather is nice, visit a flower garden. These gardens are often beautifully landscaped and in the summer all flowers are in bloom. Beautiful and educational!
Flowerpots
Have the children plant flowers in a small pot. Buy some cheap flowers and pots and let the kids plant them. They can take these home afterwards.
Jewelry
Almost all girls love jewelry. Make them with the kids. Provide nice charms and pendants in the shape of flowers. Preferably in different shapes and colors, so that the children do not make the same jewelry.
Flower necklace
Go into the pasture and pick daisies or another type of flower. Make nice necklaces and bracelets here.
Flower garland
Go make a flower garland. Print beautiful images of flowers and have them colored and decorated with glitter, for example. Make holes in the flowers and thread a ribbon through them. You can have the children make one large garland or all of them make their own garland. Another way is to use paper plates. Let the children draw flowers on this, make holes in them and thread a ribbon through them.
Decoration
There are several ways to decorate your home or location appropriately:
- Artificial flowers. Put these in nice pots or vases.
- Garlands in the shape of flowers.
- Balloons with pictures of flowers.
- Confetti in the form of flowers.
- Window stickers in the shape of flowers.
- Hawaii garlands. Nice to hang and hand out.
- Flowers with pegs. You can pin this to a sheet, rope or ribbon.
- Flower curtain. This is also easy to make yourself. Print out pictures of flowers, cut them out, make holes in them and thread a ribbon through them. This can be done vertically as well as horizontally. Make about 6 pieces and attach them to a bar or stick.
- Hair clips in the shape of flowers. Fun to put in the hair of the children.
- Decorate the house or location with the paper roses in different colors. You can hang them, put them down, stick them near plants, attach them to sheets, stick them to doorposts, decorate chairs, etc.
Good luck!
