Is your child’s birthday in the summer? And do you enjoy going out with the kids? With not too high costs? Go “survive on a desert island”. There is a wonderful place everywhere, a park or a public recreation area, where you can relax and “survive”.
What do you need?
- First, a place to celebrate, such as a park or public recreation area; with water, bushes and / or trees. Take a look around the neighborhood, there is probably a nice place to be found.
- White sheets of paper
- Scissors
- Shoe polish or charcoal or soil
- Empty bottles
- Sail (can be bought at a hardware store or may still be tucked away in the shed)
- Ball of rope
- Kite rope
- Fishing line
- A few pieces of cardboard with pictures of animals printed on them
- Fishhooks
- White sandwich
- Fruit (apples, oranges, or coconuts)
- Bottles of drinking water
- Have band-aids ready.
Naturally, a party starts with an invitation (think about how many children your son or daughter can invite. Take into account transport to the chosen place for the party or have the children dropped off at the place).
Invitation
For the invitation, take a sheet of white paper and write on it with a pen the day, time, place and your own interpretation. Make a ball of the paper and then unfold it again. Make it a bit dirty (with shoe polish, charcoal or earth), because you do not wash up on an uninhabited island, crumple the paper in the bottle and your invitation is ready.
On the island
On an uninhabited island you have nothing available, you will have to take care of everything yourself. Let the children decide for themselves what they need, such as drink, food, shelter. Now you can start, your primary necessity of life is drinking water. Make sure the bottles of water are hidden in buckets between the trees and / or bushes and let the children search for them (don’t let them stray too far!). Shelter is nice against the sun. With the tarpaulin, ball of twine, and branches they can find, they can build shelter (have the scissors handy so you can cut the rope).
You can pick fruit and coconuts from the trees. Make sure you’ve hung the fruit in the trees. Let them find their own solutions to get it out (climb, if it’s not too high or take out the fruit with long sticks). You can also eat fish. Have them make a fishing rod from a branch, some fishing line on it and a hook, put a piece of white bread on the hook and they can try to catch a fish.
You can also eat wild animals. You can shoot them with a bow and arrow. Have the children find a slightly bent branch and make a bow with kite rope. They can use straight branches as arrows. Place the pieces of cardboard with animal pictures on it and have them try to shoot an animal (make sure they don’t walk in the shooting line).
Home again
You can let the kids make applesauce from the apples they picked. Cut the apple into quarters and remove the core. Cut the piece of snog smaller and put everything in a pan half filled with water and two teaspoons of lemon juice. Put the pan on the fire and stir regularly. The apples should cook for about 15 to 30 minutes, until they are all softly cooked. Add sugar to taste. You can also spoil the children with (not too much) lemonade and sweets after all that survival.
Home
A memory of a party is always nice. Make a small fishing rod out of a twig, a piece of fishing line and hang a licorice fish or a photo that you took while “surviving” (just print it while the applesauce is simmering).
