The Paso Fino is a small athletic horse that descends from South America. He has three extra gaits in addition to walk and canter. There are three different types of the Paso Fino: the leisure horse, the show horse and the recreation type.
History
In the 16th century several horses were taken to America. Including the Berber, Spanish Jennets and the Andalusian. To make the Paso Fino more noble they crossed with Arbarieren, the Tennessee Walking Horse, the Morgan and the American Saddlebred. This made the Paso Fino bigger as they got smaller due to inbreeding. Because the Paso Fino is crossed with the Morgan, it retains its unique gaits. Meanwhile, the Paso Fino is a popular variety in South America.
