Every now and then it happens that you have to use a cooking technique, but how did it work again? Often there is still a blurred image of the cooking technique, especially if you don’t use it often. Below are a few techniques that are often applied to food, which is what they call the basic cooking techniques. With a cooking technique you ensure that you give it a different twist, a different taste, what it looks like, it is all included.
Blanching
Blanching is a cooking technique where food is cooked for several minutes to keep it crispy. The vegetable loses less flavor and nutrients. Blanching is also used to clean food or to freeze certain vegetables. Here are a few steps on how to blanch your food.
- Fill a pan with plenty of lightly salted water and bring to the boil.
- Add the vegetables and bring the water back to the boil for a few minutes as soon as possible.
- Now put the vegetables in a pan with cold water to stop the cooking technique.
- Drain the vegetables as soon as it cools.
Tie
There are different ways of binding, this cooking technique makes food thicker. The best-known way of binding is with roux, which works as follows:
- Melt butter in a pan.
- Add about the same amount of flour and stir well.
- Add water / wine or something else to the newly made ” paste ”.
- Stir well until boiling, and let it cook for another 10 minutes.
- Finally, you can season the sauce.
There is also the mounting method, which uses cold butter that you can put through the hot sauce to make it so nice and creamy. Don’t forget to cut the butter into small pieces before adding it to the sauce.
Finally, here is the way of binding with cream:
- Select the cream you wish to use (whipped cream, crème fraîche).
- Add the cream to the food and stir well.
- Let the cream cook for a while so that it has the correct effect.
Breading
Breading is also a common cooking technique. This is often used for meat to give it an extra crispy layer. And do not forget, if you still want to season it you will have to do it before the cooking technique, if you do it after the time it will no longer have any effect. This cooking technique works as follows.
- Put two eggs in the bowl and beat lightly.
- Take two plates and put breadcrumbs in one flour and the other.
- First, pass the meat through the flour.
- Once it has passed through the flour, pass it through the egg.
- Finally through the breadcrumbs.
