preface
If anywhere ?? too ?? is never good. Eating too much will make you fat. Eating too little will make you thin. Too fat is unhealthy, but too thin too. What happens to your body if you don’t eat properly. In the book you will find tips about healthy eating and how to deal with eating problems. Also interesting facts in this book: what is a calorie, what holiday do we owe to the potato?
Eating habits in the past and now
If you don’t eat, you will die. You have to eat to stay alive. In the Netherlands and Belgium food is not scarce, it used to be different. In prehistoric times, people spent entire days looking for food. It did keep them in good shape. Later people started cultivating land and other products were added to the menu such as grains, rice. Food could be more varied. In addition to agriculture, people also started farming livestock.
When does thin become too thin?
If you suffer from an eating disorder, you actually have a mental illness. You are often unhealthy with food and it is going to rule your life. People with anorexia nervosa starve themselves, sometimes to the point that the body becomes exhausted. It can go so far as to compromise vital functions and result in death. It is still unclear what exactly causes anorexia nervosa. The majority (95 percent) of people with anorexia nervosa are women. There are people who do not consider anorexia to be a disease. Pro-ana: They’ve made it a lifestyle to get and stay lean. What are the consequences of anorexia and how can someone be helped?
When does fat get too fat?
More and more people in the Netherlands and Belgium are overweight. We also see fatty and sweet foods all around us and it can be difficult to resist eating. You can calculate whether you are overweight based on your BMI: Body Mass Index. The method indicates how much mass your body consists of. The BMI test in children gives an unrealistic picture, as long as you are growing you need a little bit of fat on your body. Every pound goes through the mouth. All the energy that you take in too much is stored as fat in the body. A too high body weight can lead to ailments and diseases. In this chapter also information about weight loss, fitness camps, obesity, gastric band.
Slim line for sale
Money is spent on food, but also on weight loss methods. New weight loss methods are regularly added. Crash diets give quick results, but are ultimately the least effective. First you lose weight, but when you pick up your old diet again, the kilos fly back like with the juice diet, soup diet, yogurt diet, hospital diet. This chapter also includes information about the disk of five, yo-yo effect, surgical procedures.
Extreme shapes
Don’t get fat, thin is the fashion. If you look at models on the catwalk, you see extremely thin models. But at the same time, more and more very fat people are entering the world. Beauty ideals have changed over time. There are countries where slim women are not fashionable, but where girls are stuffed with goodies because they like fat women. Or people eat to win a prize. You also have feedees, these are women who are fattened by their partner (feeder) and like this.

The text and illustrations
The book consists of five chapters. Lots of text, but also tables, facts. The variety makes the book a pleasure to read. The photos and drawings complete the book. However, there are photos that may be experienced as shocking.
Two excerpts from the book
Eating diseases are conditions that can have serious consequences. People with anorexia nervosa don’t get enough nutrients. The body becomes exhausted and your organs are affected. They no longer have the energy to function properly. An example of this is that menstruation does not occur and therefore temporary fertility occurs. There is a risk of remaining infertile for life. The skin can become dry, flabby or flaky. Fluffy hair may grow on the face. Potassium deficiency may develop in people who use laxatives.
Don’t get fat, thin is the fashion, says the saying. But is what is fat and what is thin? What people used to think was thin, we would now see as plump. Women in commercials have been getting thinner over the years. Extremely thin models show the latest fashion trends on the catwalk. At the same time, there are also more and more extremely fat people in the world.
My take on Eating Disorders
A very informative book about eating disorders, which is excellent to use as a basis for a presentation or paper. Nice that a piece of history is also discussed, about searching for food in prehistoric times all day long. Various eating disorders are discussed, such as anorexia nervosa, and the options for treatment are also discussed. In chapter four, different diets are discussed, the yo-yo effect, surgery and more exercise. It’s great that several sites are listed at the end of the book where you can find more information. The chapters in the book are not very long, this ensures that the reader’s attention is not lost. Recommended.
