Schools will soon be better secured in France. President Macron announced this after an additional meeting of the cabinet meeting last night.
The measure is being taken after a teacher was beheaded last Friday. Samuel Paty, 47, was murdered for showing Mohammed cartoons during class. The attacker, an 18-year-old Chechen, was shot dead by the police shortly after the murder.
Highest priority
Macron said the security of the schools is a top priority. How the schools will be secured and when the measures will take effect has not been disclosed.
Yesterday tens of thousands of people demonstrated in tribute to the headless teacher. There were demonstrations in Bordeaux, Lyon and here in Paris. The demonstrators included teachers, students and politicians.
