This message will make many Volvo drivers sit up and take notice. At least those who got their car after April 2020. Because since model year 2021, the Swedes have electronically secured their top speed of 180 km / h. In particular, customers of high-performance hybrids or Polestar Engineered vehicles are likely to get angry at this practice, as they must fear being flashed away by much less motorized road users in the left lane.
Vmax increase initially for powerful Volvos
Of course: the common Volvo customer likes to take it easy and not everyone will be disturbed by the limitation. The fact that Heico Sportiv has now found a way to lift the lock should bring the tuner some new customers without looking too deeply into the crystal ball. The company from Weiterstadt offers the Vmax increase for all Volvo model series, whereby the most powerful vehicles can benefit from the additional control unit. Heico Sportiv names on his Facebook site so far the following prices:
40 series:
- Petrol: EUR 1,290.00 (H2020400)
- Diesel: EUR 1,290.00 (H2020400)
- Hybrids: EUR 1,390.00 (H2020450)
60 series:
- Petrol: EUR 1,490.00 (H2020600)
- Diesel: EUR 1,490.00 (H2020600)
- Hybrids: EUR 1,590.00 (H2020650)
90 series:
- Petrol: EUR 1,690.00 (H2020900)
- Diesel: EUR 1,690.00 (H2020900)
- Hybrids: EUR 1,790 (H2020950)
(all prices incl. 16% VAT)
According to a newspaper report, Volvo itself is critical of the tuning measure. Volvo dealers are not authorized to install the additional control unit in vehicles, the manufacturer’s guarantees would be ineffective. The latter is likely to deter the lessee and subscription users of Care by Volvo. Heico Sportiv meanwhile offers an expert opinion and its own guarantee services, which, however, are based on the manufacturer’s specifications. The corresponding control unit can be installed at Heico Sportiv in Weiterstadt, and sales to interested customers begin immediately. (Text: Thomas Vogelhuber | Pictures: Manufacturer)
