It is often difficult to come up with healthy children’s treats. This requires a lot of creativity and imagination. This article provides some examples of fun and healthy treats.
Healthy children’s treats
- Healthy turtle
- Cookie samples
- Banana racing car
- Popcorn hands
Healthy turtle
Supplies for the treat:
- grapes (red or green)
- apples (1 apple per two children)
- cheese cubes
- small cocktail sticks
Here’s how to make the treat:
Wash the apple well and then cut it carefully in half. Remove the clock case. Attach 4 cubes of cheese to the flat bottom of the apple and secure it with cocktail sticks. A tip here is to first attach the cheese to the cocktail stick and then stick the empty end of the stick into the apple. Now take a new cocktail stick and prick a grape here. Now stick the empty end of the cocktail stick at the front of the apple. Push both the cheese cubes and the grapes as well as possible and make sure that no parts of the cocktail sticks are visible. Place all the turtles on a large dish and cover with aluminum foil and then put them in the fridge until the moment of treat has come.
Cookie samples
Supplies for the treat:
- (possibly pre-cut) gingerbread
- transparent foil
- black, blue and white card stock
- Scissors
- Tape and glue
- computer
- internet
- printer
Here’s how to make the treat:
Search the internet for a nice picture of Cookie Monster’s head. Measure about half an A4 size for the head. Print this out. Cut out the head and trace it around with a pencil on the blue cardstock. Cut out the head. You should now have a black eye-less Cookie Monster head on the table. Make two round eyes from the white cardboard and stick them on the head with the glue. Now only the pupils are missing. Cut out two round pupils from the black cardboard and stick them in the white eyes.
When the Cookie Monster’s head is glued together, carefully cut its mouth open with scissors. Stick a halved coffee filter bag on the back of the mouth. A Cookie Monster has now been created with a movable mouth. Wrap a slice of gingerbread in a piece of transparent foil and then stick it with adhesive tape in Cookie Monster’s mouth.
Banana racing car
Supplies for treat:
- Bananas (1 for each child)
- cucumber
- cocktail sticks
Here’s how to make the treat:
Wash the cucumber well. Then cut it into slices. Make sure the slices are not too thin. Place the banana so that the top of the banana (the stick) becomes the back of the race car and the pointed side of the banana becomes the front. Stick a cocktail stick through the banana at about 1/3 of the banana. Repeat this on about 2/3 of the banana. Attach a slice of cucumber to the ends of the banana. The treat is now ready. Put these in the refrigerator until the time of the treat comes.
Popcorn hands
Supplies for the treat:
- ready-made popcorn (you can also make your own)
- plastic disposable household gloves.
- licorice lace
Here’s how to make the treat:
Take the popcorn and the gloves and fill the gloves with popcorn until they are shaped like a hand. Button the glove and tie a licorice lace around the end of the glove if necessary.
