When choosing a horse stable, it is important that there is enough space for the horse. Not every stable is suitable for every horse, which is why the choice should be based on the horse and not on the stable. So you are looking for a stable that suits the horse.
Standard horse stable
A standard horse stable is a space that can be closed. You see these stables in the form of converted barns, stable complex and containers. The big disadvantage of containers is that there is no good air circulation and that is partly why the containers become very hot in the summer. A container as a stable is therefore not recommended.
Open walls between stables by means of bars or simply completely open ensure that horses can interact with each other.
Expansions standard horse stables:
- Feeding opening
- Sliding door
- Revolving door
Shelter
A shelter is a good stable for horses that are often or always outside. A shelter is a stable where horses can shelter in bad weather conditions. When placing a shelter, you must pay attention to whether a permit is required.
If the municipality does not wish to issue a permit for the placement of a shelter, placing a hedge in the pasture is also an option. Especially ideal if the hedge is placed in a plus shape (+). With a plus shape, ponies can shelter from any wind direction.
Walk-in stable
A walk-in barn is a barn that borders directly on a piece of pasture or other land. A walk-in barn shows comparison with the shelter barn. In both stables the horse can walk in and out as it sees fit. A walk-in barn, on the other hand, is lockable. Walk-in stables are usually closed in the evening after the horses have been put in.
Rearing shed
Rearing stables are larger stables where several young horses stand together. These horse boxes have several recesses in the side so that the horses can eat hay from the aisle.
Stable a pony
Storing ponies properly can be more difficult than stabling a horse. Most standard stables are made for horses. Horses are larger than ponies, so the walls of the stables are too high for ponies. A smaller pony often cannot see over the stable wall. Fitting a stable to a pony doesn’t have to be an awful lot of work. Making a recess in the wall so that the pony can see over the wall is enough. Not the entire wall needs to be lowered. The center section of the front of the aisle is the best place for a recess. A horse stable will in any case provide enough space for the pony.
Other
When installing a horse stable, it is wise to think of a lightning arrester. People sometimes forget that a horse stable should be better protected from lightning than a simple shed.
