The reason
Many people keep a pet at home, so that it does not often come into contact with natural enemies such as bacteria and sources of infection. But it can also affect the home in several ways, causing a disease or disorder. Pets that also regularly come outside have the chance to come into contact with many fireplaces. They defecate in someone else’s yard, fight other animals, and wander through everything. An accident is in a small corner! What your pet eats per day can have consequences for its further health. Which behaviors should you pay attention to?
Need for timely recognition
You as the owner know exactly how your pet responds normally. Naturally, something is wrong with a change of behavior. Normally it will come to you and demand attention. If the behavior changes to absence, sitting alone in a corner or moving strangely, it cannot be otherwise than that your cat has contracted something. What should you pay attention to if you suspect that something is wrong?
Skin and coat disorders
Deficiency of certain nutrients can result in skin problems and bad teeth. Maintenance is also very important for pets to keep everything in good condition. Parasites can certainly be a problem. If wounds develop, a parasite can enter the skin, causing the condition to worsen. This can result in a wound or a lot of hair loss. The skin becomes visible and may look dry, flaky or limp. In addition, the eyes can water continuously. Get proper treatment in case of hair loss as a parasite condition can only worsen.
Abnormal temperature
The body temperature of small animals is always slightly higher in order to have sufficient heat. Usually it should be between 38.5 and 39. If the temperature is higher than 39.5 or lower than 38, then there is certainly something wrong. Additional symptoms are that the creature is less playful and may take little or nothing. In addition, it may be that there is a deviant meowing, very little or very much. These could be indications of an internal infection, fever or ingested toxins. It is important to approach the vet quickly.
Problems with the intestines
Most common problem with the intestines is that worms are present. The cat eats here and there, and worm spores can also be ingested. You can recognize it when there are small white pieces of possibly moving parts in the stool. There may also be an intestinal disorder or something wrong has been eaten. There may be a blockage, which can be resolved by a rectal flush. Indications can include the following:
- there is often vomiting;
- when it is on the tray there is a lot of meowing;
- the tendency is often there but nothing comes out;
- the abdomen feels hard in certain places;
- a filthy bottom, next to which unusual movements are made.
Urination problems
As with humans, bladder and kidney problems can arise. It may mean that the kidney has a worm or that there is grit in the pee, for example. Such stones can hurt a lot, causing the stool to be disrupted. There is a continuous meowing. This may mean that the cat drinks a lot or little, in which case it loses weight. Behavior changes and it can happen that people urinate everywhere instead of in the bowl. It can also happen that there is blood in the urine.
Sneezing and sneezing
A cold can happen just like that. It may have rained and become temporarily hypothermic, or by a transmitted virus. This means sneezing, where the eyes water and the nose is excessively wet. In addition, the cat’s third eyelid may become visible even when the eyes are open. Often a bad cold does not disappear quickly, so it is important to give the right medicines and attention. Get informed by the vet to prevent worse.

As soon as there are adjusted strange behavior or strange movements, it may be wise to go to the vet. Parasites, infections, kidney stones or grit can have serious consequences, seriously endangering health. When in doubt, always consult your vet to prevent deterioration.
