Nowadays you can find tasty recipes on many sites, but unfortunately they are all in different places. Albert Heijn, smulweb ,♥schappen.nl, recipe blogs … Now you can create an archive in which you collect all your recipes. No more searching for that one recipe on that one site, but simply everything in one place!
You may have heard of it before: Tumblr. A website where you can create your own page with inspiring pictures. We will also use this platform, only with pictures of the dishes. If you click on a picture, you will be directly linked to the recipe site. It’s that simple! You can place a search bar at the top. For example, if you type ‘tomato’ there, you will get all the collected recipes with tomato.
Step 1: Create an account on Tumblr
Go to https://www.tumblr.com/ and register. You can also set the website to Dutch if you prefer.
Step 2: Choosing a design for your page
You can change the design of your page in the settings of your page (☼ sign → select your blog → click on ‘customize’ at the heading ‘theme’). You can choose from many standard free and paid designs or search for a tumblr theme via Google. It is important that you choose a design with a search bar. This way you can easily find your recipes. For example, use this theme: https://www.tumblr.com/theme/30524. Here you have a nice overview of the photos and there is also a search bar. Look for an example at the bottom of the page.
In the settings of your page you can also protect it with a password, that way the website is only for personal use.
Step 3: Collect!
First you need to put a link in your bookmarks bar. When you want to add the recipe, click this link to post it in Tumblr. Go to this one ?? https://www.tumblr.com/apps ?? link. Drag the button to your bookmarks bar. You can now use the button to post pictures.
Go to the recipe page. Click the Tumblr button in your bookmarks bar. A new screen will now open. You will now be given several options on how to post your recipe. Click on ‘photo’. You will see a small overview of all the photos on the page. Click on the photo you would like to use in your page. Sometimes Tumblr can’t load the photos, then right-click on the photo in the recipe site and choose ‘copy location from image’.
Go back to the Tumblr page and paste the link of the image in the ‘photo URL’ bar. Click further to the ‘advanced’ button. Here you can add keywords with which you can find your recipe with the search bar. Enter the name of the dish, ingredients, etc. and separate them with a comma. Click on ‘create post’ and your recipe will be posted.
If you want to use your recipe archive simply go to your page by typing in the URL (your name.tumblr.com). Have fun with it!
