Land Rover will be offering the Defender in a new top version with a V8 petrol engine from June. The 386 kW / 525 PS strong 5.0-liter supercharged engine borrowed from the Jaguar F-Type is available for both the short 90s and the long 110s of the iconic SUV (combined fuel consumption: 12.8 l / 100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 290 g / km²).
525 PS, 625 Nm, top speed of 240 km / h
In addition to the obligatory all-wheel drive with a lockable center differential, an electronic rear-axle locking differential tailored to performance is also available. The Englishman runs from zero to 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds, the end is electronically limited to 240 km / h. In order to do justice to the high top speed, the spring-damper set-up was also changed.
It starts at 117,600 euros
Prices start at 117,600 euros for the Land Rover Defender 90 V8 and 121,200 euros for the Defender 110 V8. The eight-cylinder models are equipped with a quadruple exhaust system, 22-inch alloy wheels in Satin Dark Gray and front brake calipers painted in blue. Inside there are seats in Windsor leather, an Alcantara steering wheel, satined aluminum shift paddles and illuminated door sills with V8 logo.
The normal Defender is also getting new features
In addition to the new top model, there will be slight changes to the Defender’s equipment range and updates to the infotainment system for the coming model year. The rest of the drive program continues to consist of four- and six-cylinder petrol and six-cylinder diesel engines. Prices start at 52,700 euros. (Text: tv, mh / sp-x | Images: manufacturer)
