Do you unexpectedly get someone to eat and do you need to quickly prepare a meal? There are several ways to cook quickly and cheaply. How about a hamburger with garlic sauce and a sweet salad with mashed potatoes? When you start living in rooms, you only notice how much your parents did for you. You have to do everything yourself, and that can be disappointing. If no one cooks for you, you can get fat and unhealthy faster. Fresh vegetables and regular eating is important. Cooking helps you to eat healthy and delicious. How can you learn to cook quickly?
Fast cooking is not that difficult. There are many simple dishes that are easy to make and that you can put on the table within 15 minutes. For example, a hamburger with garlic sauce and sweet lettuce with banana, cucumber and tomato.
Necessities 2-4 people
- Frozen burgers
- Olive oil or other cooking oil
- Packet of ready-made puree
- A cucumber
- 2-4 Tomatoes
- 2-3 bananas
- Tablespoon of mayonnaise
- Cup of yogurt
- 4-5 cloves of garlic
- Bag of aioli from Duyvis (is nice because of the garlic sauce but not necessary)
Puree, ready to use
Put water and / or milk for the puree, according to the instructions for the ready-made puree on the package. Ready-to-eat puree is not healthy, but it is ready quickly. If you want to eat healthier, choose regular well-washed potatoes (with their skin) boiled, or sweet (red sweet patata) potatoes (you have to peel the latter, but these potatoes are cooked faster (about 5 minutes earlier) than the regular potatoes)
Hamburgers
Place a frying pan on the stove with a drizzle of cooking oil, once it gets hot (shouldn’t smoke) slide the frozen burgers into the pan and keep an eye on the pans while you start making the garlic sauce. When the burgers are almost ready, you can fry some onion rings around them. Frozen burgers are not very healthy, if you want healthy meat choose lean meats from land meat (beef and poultry for example) and fatty meats from the sea (salmon for example).
garlic sauce
Mix a cup of yogurt with a tablespoon of mayonnaise. Add the squeezed cloves of garlic and the bag of onion oil. This is a very lean garlic sauce that can also be combined with a hot red sauce, such as piri-piri.
Gravy
You don’t need any gravy with this combination because the yogurt sauce tastes great with everything you have on your plate. If you eat fish, gravy is not at all tasty. Fish needs a sauce, or eat fish pure with a little salt and pepper.
Fast salad, sweet and healthy
- Wash the cucumber and cut it into slices, skin and all.
- Wash the tomatoes and cut them into slices.
- Peel and slice the bananas.
- Mix the cucumber, tomato and banana together and add a dash of oil.
- Important: Do not add vinegar, salt or pepper!
- Also important: only peel and cut the bananas at the last moment, because bananas turn brown very quickly. You can sprinkle the banana with lemon juice to prevent it from browning too quickly.
Eating cucumber and (white) peeled potatoes has the advantage that you get more fiber, which is good for your intestines.
The above combination of dishes can be on the table within 15 minutes.
Super dessert
Want to get a little fat? Then you really should try banana mousse. It is excruciatingly tasty and ready in no time.
Necessities 2-4 people
- 2-4 Bananas
- Little cinnamon powder
- Sugar
- Whipped cream (preferably fresh)
Beat the whipped cream, with sugar to taste. Mash the bananas and mix in some sugar. Spoon the mashed bananas into the whipped cream. Sprinkle some cinnamon over the mousse. Banana mousse is also very tasty in combination with vanilla ice cream. Healthy? No, they certainly don’t. If you want a healthier version, choose bananas mashed with thick yogurt, and don’t add sugar, just cinnamon.
Lightning fast desserts
- Fried egg: Pour a dash of vanilla yogurt onto a plate and place half a peach on top.
- Two color custard: pour a layer of yogurt, custard, a little strawberry jam, and a layer of fruit into a glass.
