What is frozen yogurt?
Frozen yogurt, or frozen yogurt, is a frozen dessert made from mainly yogurt and sometimes other dairy products. There are also variants where dairy is used. History of frozen yogurt
Frozen yogurt was introduced to New England in the United States in the 1970s. Then it was called Frogurt, a contraction of frozen (= frozen) and yogurt. A few years later, in 1978, the first package of frozen yogurt was introduced by a Boston ice cream manufacturer. It was presented as a healthy alternative to ice cream. However, there was a lot of criticism from consumers about the tart taste of the ice cream and it was therefore decided to add more sugar. In the 1980s, frozen yogurt became a real success and it has now managed to gain a decent market share in dessert sales.
Frozen yogurt now
Frozen yogurt seems to be gaining in popularity and taking the place of ice cream. There are special salons where they only sell frozen yogurt. The customer can also choose different toppings here, such as fruit or chocolate. So you are completely free to choose how you want your frozen yogurt. Make your own frozen yogurt without an ice cream maker
It is even more fun to make frozen yogurt yourself. Because there are so many options, you can combine endlessly with flavors. Below you will find a delicious recipe for low-calorie frozen yogurt.
Ingredients
4 cups of Greek yogurt
1 cup of strawberries
2 teaspoons of honey
Preparation
- Make sure the yogurt contains as little moisture as possible. Although Greek yogurt generally contains little moisture, it is still advisable to remove the moisture as much as possible. For example, put the yogurt in a tea towel and let it hang for a few hours so that the moisture leaks out. Just as usual with dessert is curd. It is important to remove as much moisture as possible to prevent the dessert in the freezer from containing too many ice crystals.
- Freeze your strawberries in advance. This also helps to prevent the dessert from being too hard and containing too many ice crystals.
- When all is ready, you can start putting all the ingredients together in a blender or use a mixer. Mix the drained yogurt, frozen strawberries and honey together. Do this quickly and make sure the mixture does not get too soft.
- Put the mixture in the freezer for one or two hours. Do not leave it in the freezer for too long, otherwise you may have to thaw the frozen yogurt a bit again. It is best to eat the frozen yogurt the same day, because then it is best.
