
The Man Who Was Naked as a Baby on the Cover of the Nirvana Album nevermind state, the American band is suing. Spencer Elden, now 30, says the 1991 photo is child porn.
According to entertainment website TMZ, he wants at least $150,000 each from the heirs of frontman Kurt Cobain, the surviving band members and other involved parties.
According to Elden, the band had promised to cover his penis with a sticker in the photo, but that has not happened. His guardians would also not have officially given permission to photograph the baby in the pool.
Elden says he was sexually exploited by Nirvana and has suffered from it all his life. Incidentally, he has posed several times over the years for a new version of the photo, both as a child and at a later age.
TMZ has not yet been able to get a response from former band members.
The Influential Album nevermind is considered one of the most important grunge albums and marked Nirvana’s big breakthrough. The album included the hit Smells Like Teen Spirit. With the photo of the naked baby who seems to be swimming behind a banknote, the band wanted to symbolize the loss of youthful innocence.
Nirvana ended in 1994 when singer Kurt Cobain committed suicide at the age of 27.
