Rapper Lil Kleine
Rapper Lil Kleine will be released again, the council chamber of the court in Amsterdam has decided. His pre-trial detention is suspended under certain conditions and he is allowed to await the trial of his criminal case in freedom.
Lil Kleine, who is actually called Jorik Scholten, was arrested last month on suspicion of assaulting his fiancée, Jaimie Vaes. He would have jammed her head between a car door.
Initially, the 27-year-old rapper was released after three nights in prison. The Public Prosecution Service later appealed against that decision, because the Public Prosecution Service found that there were sufficiently serious objections to detain him longer. The council chamber then ruled that Lil Kleine had to be detained for another fourteen days.
Community service
It is not the first time that the rapper has come into contact with the law. At the beginning of February, he was given a community service order of 120 hours for the assault of a visitor to a club in Amsterdam in 2019.
Last year, he spent a night in jail in Ibiza after his girlfriend filed a complaint against him for assault. Both later denied that there had been any physical violence.
Following the most recent suspicions against Lil Kleine, record label Sony Music has stopped working with him. Spotify has removed its music from its own playlists and radio stations no longer play its music.
