It happens to almost everyone from time to time; a thick ink stain in your beautiful new pants. Or a bloody nose and drops fall on your white shirt. Fortunately, something can be done against almost all stains, and that does not have to cost much money. Most of the time, home garden and kitchen remedies are all you need. Therefore, here is a list of common stains, how and with what you can remove them. Handy, keep it always and everywhere at hand !!
Ink, from ink cartridges
Can only be removed with COLD water. Rinse abundantly with this.
Regular ink
There are many remedies for this. So it seems that rubbing with alcohol helps, then the stain is gone. Anti-dandruff shampoo, coffee creamer and methylated spirits also have a positive effect.
Beet juice
If there is beet juice in the fabric, it is best to try to wash it away with lukewarm neutral soapy water. If this does not help (in one of the few cases), try it with water and ammonia. If it really hasn’t worked out yet, it will probably work with 3% hydrogen peroxide.
Pollen
Do not rub. Take a piece of tape and dab it off your clothes. You can also gently tap it off.
Rust
Rub in lemon juice and pulp and hang in the sun. Be careful with non-colourfast clothing, because it discolours very quickly!
Grass stains
It is best to rub it with green soap or detergent and just wash it in the washing machine.
Blood
Both shampoo and plain cold water should get rid of the blood stains. I myself have very good experiences with milk. Just pour on it, rub a little and the stain is gone!
Wine
With a red wine stain, it is useful to pour beer or white wine over it immediately. This will give you another stain, but it is easy to wash out. If you have spilled wine in your carpet, sprinkle 1 or 2 tablespoons of table salt on it immediately after spilling it, which will absorb the wine.
Candle wax
If you’ve gotten candle wax in clothes, try to take the worst off with your nails. Then put a piece of absorbent paper on top and iron over it with a hot iron. After this, the stain should be gone!
Ecoline
Scrubbing immediately with soap and water is very important, otherwise it is very difficult to remove the stain. If this doesn’t work, you can try it with milk or ox gall soap.
Oil
You can remove oil with methylated spirits and salt or with washing-up liquid. Oil stains on the hands (from motor oil for example) can easily be removed by washing your hands with water and peanut butter. Works much better than soap.
Paint
If your clothes have a paint stain, you should first soak the clothes in milk for a while (about overnight) and then wash them out. Thinner also seems to be a good solution.
