The CBR has renewed the administration of the theory exam. The old system for administering traffic theory exams dates back to 1984. The new system introduced at the end of 2014 has the advantage that the theory exam can be taken individually, with each candidate having his or her own questions and traffic situations. will be presented. This makes the new theory examination system ready for the future and less susceptible to fraud than the old system. In the future, moving images may be added for the theory exam, which will make the research question more realistic because traffic situations can then be shown on the screen.
Renewed CBR theory exam ready for the future
In the old system for taking the theory exam at one of the CBR exam centers, it turned out that the old way of taking the theory exam for your driving license is no longer of this time. With modern media and communication tools, the old way of examining was too susceptible to fraud. The new theoretical exam as introduced has the advantage that you as a candidate can log in to the CBR system with your own number and take an individual exam. After taking the theory exam, you will immediately receive the result and this is no longer dependent on the other exam candidates, as was the case with the old classroom system.
Changes in theory exam
By introducing a computer-controlled exam system, different exams can be taken together. This creates a greater choice in day and time on which the theory exam can be taken. Within the applicable time limit, you as a candidate can (eventually) complete various questions within the theory exam at your own pace and make any improvements easier.
Renewed theory exam step by step
- Book the exam through your driving school or My CBR
- You will receive confirmation of your registration via your E-mail
- Bring your ID and your reservation number to the exam center
- Report on the registration column 15 minutes before the start of the scheduled exam
- A call is made via the reservation number on the display
- Report to “Start theory exam” for verification of identity and allocation of table number
- Log in to the computer to start the exam
- Answer the questions within the time specified in the timeline *
- After completing the theory exam, the result will follow immediately, with a short motivation of any mistakes made
Timeline and exam duration
* Initially, the time bar for answering the questions will be the same for everyone per question. This must ultimately be individually “controllable” with a time bar for the entire exam duration.
An exception to this are the questions about the “hazard perception” section. After all, when recognizing danger in traffic, you also have to be able to take a decision immediately and act quickly. After the introduction of one timeline for the entire theory exam, the possibility will exist to go back to questions that have already been answered, to check answers and to make any corrections.
Questions within the theory exam
Incidentally, the question that you can expect during the theory exam will remain the same as the current question for the time being and consist of the parts:
Hazard perception
The hazard perception component consists of 25 questions and you have 8 seconds to answer a question. A relatively short period of time was chosen because you often have to decide even faster in traffic on the road. In the hazard perception component, you must be able to correctly answer at least 13 questions for a positive result.
Traffic Rules and Traffic Insight
The section traffic rules and traffic insight consists of a total of 40 questions; 30 questions are about traffic rules and 10 questions about traffic insight. In the section Traffic Rules and Traffic Insight you must be able to correctly answer at least 35 questions for a positive result.
