You know them, the sausage rolls. Available in packs of four or six for the oven. But why would we buy these sandwiches ready-made in the supermarket, when they are very easy to make ourselves? You can even give it a spicy edge. Below is described exactly how you can make delicious sausage rolls within half an hour.
For the sausage rolls we need a convection oven at 180 degrees.
sausage Rolls
Ingredients
- puff pastry
- yolk of 1 egg
- 1 egg
- 500 grams of ground beef
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Pepper and salt
- Italian herbs (or minced meat herbs)
- Parsley
Preparation method
- Place the ground beef in a large bowl and sprinkle with salt and pepper
- Beat 1 egg through the mince with a fork until it becomes sticky
- Crush the garlic and cut it into small pieces
- Knead the garlic through the minced meat
- Then add the Italian herbs and parsley
- Knead small meatballs from the mix and roll them out into sausages (make sure that the sausages are about 4 to 5 cm long and 1 to 1.5 cm thick, so that they fit into the puff pastry)
- Lay out a few sheets of puff pastry and put the sausages in the center
- Fold the dough in half and press the sides until they are firmly together
- Press the four sides all around with a fork and only grooves in the side (make sure not to poke through the dough)
- You now have a nice elongated piece of puff pastry with ribbed sides and a convex center piece
- Brush the top of the bun with egg yolks, so that the dough in the oven gets a nice brown color
- Place the rolls on a baking tray far enough apart that they can still expand in the oven
- Let the rolls heat up in the oven for about 10 minutes
