How difficult it is to have to say goodbye to an animal from a disease process. An animal that has been with you for years, felt your emotions and now sees its own body deteriorating due to old age or cannot continue life in any other way. A dignified death is important, also for an animal.
Say goodbye
Provided you buy a cat that you want to have with you for a long time and if the cat has to die at any time, then quickly and painlessly. But unfortunately it does not always work that way, as a person you often have to make the decision and that is not easy.
A disease
Saying goodbye is always difficult, but an animal that is sick and no longer eats or drinks dies a terrible death and is ?? emotional however difficult ?? can be explained rationally. Emotionally difficult too, but the fact that you have been able to get the cat out of his or her suffering at the vet will be a relief at some point. In this way the animal can die a dignified and painless death.
Not sick of heart
An animal that happens to young or old, but does not make him or her sick of heart (partial paralysis is an example of this), is much more difficult. In this way the animal can possibly still heal within a certain time and as long as it eats and drinks well, there is still hope. But if nothing happens and the beast is in the basket and just looks ahead, it will be different. He or she still eats and moves what is still possible, but it is not life as you are used to from the cat and what belongs to the animal. Actually no longer worthy for the cat to have to live like this. The whole thing is even more difficult, because the cat apparently looks good and you may not want to make the decision or not yet. But appearances can be deceiving, of course you know that things are not going well and you also have to make the decision to have the cat euthanized. These are always difficult decisions, but it helps if you discuss the long-term consequences with the vet.
How does euthanasia work and what after?
The starting point for the vet is that it always takes place with care and respect for the animal. The cat will first receive an injection so that it will quietly fall into a deep sleep and shortly afterwards the syringe will be put that puts the cat to sleep.
The veterinary clinic will then ask you, what next. That is very personal and although not pleasant to think about, it is necessary. Where one person wants something with the ashes of the cremated animal, the other wants a memorial and someone else wants the cat after the cremation nothing more than that it be scattered somewhere. Much is possible in consultation at the special animal cemeteries. In addition, they always issue a kind of certificate about the time of cremation, which you will receive within a few days after the cremation.
Some people want to bury the animal in their own garden, but this is officially not allowed. An alternative could be that the ashes are buried at the house. But anyway, these are all very personal matters, important to think about in advance and specific wishes can be discussed with the people at the crematorium.
Emotions
With an animal that you have for a year you can be very emotional, but with an animal that has been with you a part of your life, chances are that the emotions will run more. There is no point in rationalizing, even if they think ?? that it is possible, because it is only an animal or because life continues (as popularly says). It is important to assume your own feelings, also when saying goodbye to an animal. One will write a poem, the other will record some anecdotes and someone else will make a photo collage. This is also very personal, but it is important to go through this process and not ignore it.
