A three-course menu does not always have to be complicated. Also for the lesser chefs, in addition to a main course, a soup beforehand and a dessert is best done and even within a short time. In addition, the dessert is made from what happens to be in the house and the soup from a leftover from the previous day, preparation is more a matter of planning than time. A three-course menu prepared with care and love will certainly appeal to you.
You don’t have to pick up your nose
Some will turn their noses because the idea is not exactly in a cookbook. Or worse, because they are used to throwing away food scraps and certainly don’t want to make something new with it. But what’s wrong with a bite of leftover macaroni with vegetables and meat? Does that have to be in the green wheelie bin?
Tasty results
A comment that usually falls badly with children when it comes to food is: “I have lived through the war”. But even if that is not the case and there is no lifelong frustration, the processing of food scraps can still be a pleasant job. And if you don’t say that the dish is made from what was left over from the previous day, you might reap compliments. Leftovers are often very suitable for a tasty soup.

Forgotten dessert
It must have happened to everyone. You have done two bags full of groceries and forgot a dessert. Let them love that at home just as much now. It is no longer possible to go back or you think it really costs too much energy. Then come up with something.
Preferably served warm
Do you happen to have any apples on the fruit bowl? Sugar is always available at home, otherwise a cup of sugar can be borrowed from the neighbors. Don’t forget to return it later. With a bit of luck, the spice rack is still well equipped and there is also cinnamon. And hey, those canisters with sprinkle powder can compete fairly with cinnamon sticks. So let’s get started, which is actually possible in advance, but I prefer the last minute to serve the dessert warm.
Dessert on the house
Requirements per portion:
- 1 apple
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- little sprinkle of cinnamon
Equipment and tools:
- Microwave
- Dish suitable for the microwave
Preparation:
- Peel the apple and cut into small pieces.
- Sprinkle the pieces with the sugar.
- Shake a few times with the sprinkle of cinnamon over the apple pieces.
- Mix that up for a moment.
- Put in the dish.

Place the dish in the microwave for about one and a half minutes (per serving) on the highest setting. With that time you can experiment according to your own taste for somewhat harder apple pieces or softer or even close to pulp.
Ready to serve. Tasty!
Variations:
- Mix the apple pieces with kitchen strip.
- Add a tablespoon of currants and / or raisins per serving.
- After preparation, put the apple pieces on a plate and cover with vanilla custard.
- Experiment to your heart’s content.
