The latest Spider-Man movie No Way Home has raised 1.05 billion dollars (930 million euros) in twelve days. This puts the film at the top of the list of most visited cinema films from 2021.
No Way Home is the first film since the outbreak of the corona pandemic to gross more than $1 billion. Not one Hollywood film came close to such a yield in corona time. The James Bond movie No Time to Die raised 683 million euros.
No Way Home came out two weeks ago, when the omikron variant of the coronavirus was already on the rise. In the Netherlands, cinemas closed a few days later because of the hard lockdown that the cabinet announced at the time.
Spider-Man is a so-called superhero film based on a comic from the 1960s No Way Home British actor Tom Holland plays the lead role.
