The wok is increasingly used in Dutch cuisine and with good reason. Healthy, tasty and quick are keywords that absolutely belong to the wok. You can use it for spicy dishes, but also dishes with a sweet undertone. The lack of fat butter and gravy and the fact that fresh ingredients are used make the meal very healthy. What do we need.
General
The wok is for gas and electric cooking (and all variants that are now available) and with a few basic ingredients a healthy and tasty meal can be served quickly. So make sure you always have the following items at home:
- wok oil
- Fresh vegetables / ingredients (can be cleaned and chopped up yourself or already cut into a package), e.g. leek, onion, snow peas, bell pepper, tomato, corn, bean sprouts, mushrooms, carrots or broccoli
- Sauce to taste (e.g. soy sauce, gives that Indonesian touch or pitte sweet chili)
Add the meat or fish you like and combine it with potatoes or rice. If you take rice, there is even the special wok rice that can be added in the pan.
An example recipe:
Smoked chicken with fresh vegetables and rice
Ingredients
- 350 grams of white rice
- Wok oil
- 350 grams of chicken fillet
- 1 cup of mushrooms
- 2 leeks
- 1 onion
- 1 tablespoon of capers
- 6 cherry tomatoes
- Spicy sauce (to taste)
Preparation
If you only have regular rice at home, start preparing it and clean the vegetables for the wok. Cut the leek into rings and the onion. The mushrooms can be sliced and the tomatoes halved. The chicken should be cut into small strips.
Now put the wok on the fire and let it get hot. A little oil in the wok and the chicken strips (about 2 minutes) in the wok to cook. Then add all the vegetables and stir for another 5 to 7 minutes. Now add about 8 to 10 spoons of the chosen stir-fry sauce and let it rest in the wok for about 2 minutes on high heat. Shovel regularly.
When the rice is ready, the stir-fry dish can be poured over the rest.
