When Christmas is approaching again, it is often quickly about Christmas dinner. And when you talk about the Christmas dinner, it will soon also be about the Christmas dessert. Because what does a good Christmas dessert look like and how does it differ from a normal dessert? How do you make a Christmas dessert that people lick their fingers on? There are so many Christmas dessert recipes, but these are really some of the tastiest!
Dessert versus Christmas dessert
How is a normal dessert different from a Christmas dessert? With a normal dessert we mean a dessert that you can eat all year round and with a Christmas dessert we mean a dessert that matches the Christmas dinner and the Christmas atmosphere. In principle, a normal dessert does not have to differ very much from a Christmas dessert in terms of taste. Of course you don’t serve your guests simple yogurt at Christmas, but a luxurious pudding or tasty cake is fine. The difference between a normal dessert and a Christmas dessert is actually more in the layout. A Christmas dessert only really fits with Christmas if it looks like it. So, for example, finish your dessert with a star or Christmas tree figure made of powdered sugar or make a beautiful figure of marzipan.
Easy Christmas dessert
Not everyone is equally adept at baking cakes or preparing other complicated desserts. But making a beautiful and delicious Christmas dessert does not always have to be complicated and takes a lot of time. Sometimes the presentation can do a lot. When you have to make a Christmas dessert for a large group, it is nice to do this in buffet form, for example. This way everyone can choose from the different delicacies. For a buffet you can bake cakes yourself, but you can also approach it differently. You can present certain sweet treats in such a way that they look beautiful, without requiring a lot of time and effort, for example:
Christmas Puff Tower
Necessities:
- 3 packs of cream puffs
- 500 grams of chocolate (milk, dark, white or mixed of your choice)
- powdered sugar
Preparation:
Melt the chocolate in a bain marie. Take a large plate or bowl and place one layer of profiteroles on top. Then pour a bit of the melted chocolate over the profiteroles and start on the next layer. This second layer is slightly smaller than the first layer. Keep it up and make sure that the layers get smaller and smaller, so that eventually a puff tower in a point shape is created. Pour the remaining melted chocolate over the soy tower and then sprinkle with icing sugar. The effect is that you have made a puffs tower in the shape of a Christmas tree. The icing sugar gives the feeling of a snowy Christmas tree. This easy-to-prepare dessert always goes well at Christmas dinner.
Christmas ice cream
Necessities:
- Different ice cream flavors of your choice
- 200 grams of chocolate (milk, dark, white or mixed of your choice)
- Red fruit of your choice
- An ice cream scoop
Preparation:
Melt the chocolate in a bain marie. Grab a large plate or bowl. Mix the different ice cream flavors with the ice cream scoop on the plate or bowl, until it is full. Place the red fruit over the ice and on the edge of the plate or bowl. Then pour the melted (but slightly cooled) chocolate over the ice cream and fruit and present the ice cream dessert directly to your guests!
Making Christmas cake
If you have time to spend a little longer in the kitchen, it can also be a good idea to bake a cake. For example, make a tasty chocolate cake or a stewed pear pie, stewed pears are a very popular dish during the holidays. Bake the cake according to your own recipe and make a real Christmas cake with the help of the following tips!
- Instead of a normal cake pan, use a baking pan with a Christmas figure. In the stores with a larger range of baking products, many different shapes are available, including a star. A cake in star shape naturally radiates a lot of Christmas. When choosing a different baking pan, make sure that it corresponds approximately to the size of a round baking pan with a 24 cm diameter.
- Sprinkle the cake with cinnamon Christmas figurines. To do this, make a template from a piece of paper and place it on the cake. Then carefully sprinkle the cinnamon over the cake with a hand sieve. Then remove the paper template from the cake and you have a beautiful Christmas cake!
- Give the cake the white Christmas. feeling by snowing the cake with icing sugar. Of course you don’t just sprinkle the icing sugar on it, but make a nice Christmas shape out of it. Cut a shape, for example a star or a Christmas tree, from an A4 piece of paper and place the outside of this shape on the cake. Put the icing sugar in a hand sieve and sprinkle it gently over the cake, within the lines of the cut out form. Then carefully remove the paper. Your cake now has a beautiful Christmas figure of “snow”.
- Red is a typical Christmas color. It can therefore give a very nice effect to cover the cake with red fruit, such as red currant or cranberry.
- Give the cake extra chocolate sensation and a Christmas feeling by making a chocolate topping in Christmas figures. This works in principle the same as the icing sugar, except that you first have to melt chocolate in a bain-marie, and then pour it over the cake in the cut-out form. It is extra nice to use white chocolate for this, because this also gives the “snow effect”.
Christmas spirit
Besides that you can give the desserts a Christmas tint to bring the Christmas dinner in a good Christmas atmosphere. It is of course also important that the surroundings of the Christmas dinner look beautiful. Provide a beautifully set table, with beautiful crockery, napkins with a Christmas print and attractive candlesticks. When there is a Christmas tree or other Christmas decorations in the dining room, the Christmas atmosphere is very good. Put on some beautiful Christmas tunes as background music and enjoy!
