On the second day of the municipal elections, the NOS broadcasts two programs live from the Town Hall in Nieuwegein. NOS Netherlands Chooses† In The mood and The debate Tonight, local party leaders and leaders of national parties will enter into a discussion and debate about local themes. Attention is also paid to the war in Ukraine and what that struggle means for the Netherlands.
Both programs will be broadcast on NPO 1 from 7:04 PM. NOS Netherlands Chooses: The Mood and The debate can also be seen via NOS.nl, the NOS app, YouTube, Facebook, BVN and with sign language interpreter on NPO News and Politics.

In The mood the leaders of twelve local parties, led by presenter Winfried Baijens, will discuss themes with a local impact.
NOS Netherlands Chooses: The Debate (20.34-21.54 hrs)
After The mood is it time for from 8.34 pm The debate, also on NPO 1. In this, eight leaders of national parties, under the watchful eye of presenter Rob Trip, cross swords on local topics. Invited are the party leaders of the four coalition parties and the four largest opposition parties.
A number of them, including VVD leader Rutte and D66 leader Kaag, are replaced by someone else from the party top.
At the start of the broadcast, a lot of attention is paid to the situation in Ukraine and its consequences. The politicians then debate in pairs on themes such as housing, the climate, crime, poverty and trust in politics. Each subject starts with a portrait of a voter who tells how he or she relates to that theme.
Rob Trip also talks to four party leaders who are only active locally about the role and influence of local parties in municipal politics.
