review
The Seven Sins is a unique series by publisher Luithing Sijthof. The deadly sins are known from the Catholic Church, but are often used in fictional stories, with Seven being perhaps the most famous thriller. The film deals with deadly sins in chornological order. Now the publisher has come up with a chronological order to highlight some good books. The fifth sin is laziness. And of course Stephen King’s Secret Window fits into that.
The fifth sin: Acedia
According to the deadly sin, Acedia is the Latin name for indolence, indolence, laziness or idleness. The demon typical of this sin is Belfagor. In addition, the animals are typically goat and donkey.
Stephen King ?? Secret Window
aversion to any form of work or effort
Stephen King became familiar with Carrie a story he thought was not good enough. He threw it away, but luckily his wife managed to save the story. With that he broke through internationally. Stephen King is a phenomenon in storytelling today and Poema Pocket is a good choice to Secret Window into the seven sins.
The story
Stephen King released Secret Window Four Past Midnight in a book with another story that is also included in the copy. The book was first published in the Netherlands in 1990. The first story is a science fiction story The Langoliers, but Secret Window is certainly the strongest.
Writer Mort Rainey has been living in peace since he caught his wife with someone else, divorced her and moved to a remote place. But his peace is over when one bad day John Shooter knocks on his door and accuses him of stealing his story.
Finally
As we are used to from King, he again pays a lot of attention to creating the characters. The story slowly builds tension. The story reads easily and that’s why. The characters are well explored and the environment well described. Not the best story by Stephen King, but again a super thriller that certainly belongs in the collection. It is better to read the story in the original language.
Stephen King
Stephen King broke through with his bestseller Carrie, on which many other bestsellers were later written. Possessed City (Salem’s Lot), Christine, Vigil of Death (Pet Sematary) and others. He was also involved in the Dark Tower cycle that he has now completed with seven books, the first of which was thin and the rest bulky books for many hours of entertainment. I recommend that you definitely read them.
