Do you want to work in healthcare and welfare, but do you not yet know which target group you want to work with? Then the PW / MMZ training might be something for you!
During the training PW / MMZ you learn the basic things for work as pedagogical worker (PW) or employee social care (MMZ). PW / MMZ is a basic year at levels 3 and 4, where you learn something about each target group. When you have completed the base year, you can choose an outflow direction at level 3 or at level 4. If all goes well, you now know which target group you want to work with in healthcare and welfare and can therefore make a choice that suits you. suits. Your study career counselor (SLB-er) will work with you to determine which level you are going to achieve.
Which courses do you get?
For a large part of your training you will be taught subjects related to your future field of work. You will receive lessons in methodology, social skills, pedagogy and care and welfare. These subjects are interspersed with theory and practical lessons.
You will also be taught activity courses. These are: drama, visual, music, sports and games and dance. During these lessons you will learn how to adapt different activities to different target groups.
You will also be taught general subjects, which you probably already took in high school. You will be taught math, Dutch, English, LLB (learning, career and citizenship). These are compulsory exam subjects.
Finally, an hour is scheduled per week for the SLB lessons. In these lessons you will work on your portfolio. You test, among other things, what your learning style is, what your collaboration style is and you work on your learning goals. Your portfolio must be completed with a pass mark in order to obtain your diploma.
Internship
During this base year you will do an internship after 20 weeks of lessons. These 20 teaching weeks are half a school year and the rest of the school year is your internship period. You will then do an internship 2 days a week at an institution that you have chosen yourself.
The intention is that you look for an internship yourself. Your school won’t do this for you, but if you can’t figure it out, help will be provided to find an internship. It is therefore very important that you look for an internship on time; rather early than (too) late!
You will receive an internship folder at the beginning of your internship. This folder is subdivided into core tasks and the core tasks are subdivided into work processes. Each work process involves competencies that you must achieve at your internship during your internship.
