As a starter on the labor market, it is important to have a thorough training. It is also important to follow a course that is promising on the labor market.
You can’t think of it as crazy or you can follow a training for it. There are many courses at different levels that do not really make you promising in the labor market. This turns out to be mainly targeted training at MBO level.
MBO
For many, secondary vocational education is a preparation for higher education. The training wishes of employers are becoming increasingly higher. Fifteen years ago, people could apply for the desired position after an MBO training. Nowadays, the minimum requirement is at HBO level. More and more young people are following the HBO after the MBO. Employers can therefore also impose stricter requirements on the training level of applicants. For most employers, the following applies: rather a starting higher professional education than an MBO with several years of work experience.
Training to avoid
Maastricht University has investigated which courses can be better avoided in the coming years for those who want job security. They have made a forecast for the news site Z24.nl with the ten courses with the smallest perspective from 2008 to 2012. A higher vocational education course does not appear to guarantee a suitable job either. From this survey, even a college education as a leader emerged as the least promising. It concerns the HBO Communication and Journalism course. Those who have completed this HBO education have little chance of a job in that sector. In second place is the Security training at the level of VMBO. For a long time, many security officers were sought, but this market is now saturated.
