President Trump has lost a lawsuit that he filed to turn the election results in Pennsylvania in his favor. With that, he suffers another defeat in the aftermath of the presidential election on November 3, which was won by Joe Biden.
Trump’s attorney Giuliani told the court that voters in some districts could erroneously correct errors on their postal votes. He wanted those votes to be declared invalid. That way, the campaign team hoped that Trump would still win the state.
The judge says there is no “factual evidence”. Instead, the court was presented with “speculative charges” without supporting evidence. Trump’s team wants to appeal.
Pennsylvania districts must report their final results Monday to whoever is responsible for the election in the state. After that, it will officially announce the result of the state.
Republican Senator Pat Toomey enrolls reaction on the decision that Trump has “exhausted all plausible legal options,” and congratulates Biden and Harris on their victory.
Trump’s team has filed more than 30 legal proceedings to date. The president wants the votes in Georgia to be counted again. In that state, which was won by Biden, all votes were recounted by hand last week. This was due to the small profit margin. According to the law, that was not an official recount, so Trump is now requesting it.
It is almost impossible that a new recount will yield a different result. In Georgia, Biden got 12,670 more votes than Trump, out of a total of 5 million votes.
