US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene banned from tweeting for 12 hours. The Republican from Georgia has been suspended by Twitter for posting misleading messages about the corona virus.
Greene is an outspoken opponent of vaccinating and wearing face masks. She was also a supporter of conspiracy theories, from which she distanced herself at the beginning of this year.
Yesterday she tweeted that a corona infection is not dangerous for people under 65 who are not overweight. That message can still be read, but Twitter has added that it is misleading.
Greene has previously made remarkable statements. For example, the Republican Congressman said corona measures taken by Democrats are comparable to “a time and history when people were forced to wear a yellow star”. “Those people were put on trains and transported to gas chambers in Nazi Germany.” After a visit to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, she apologized for that statement.
She previously said wildfires in California had been started by laser beams from space and that wealthy Jews who wanted to make money from them had helped.
Marjorie Taylor Greene was expelled from two parliamentary committees earlier this year for her views. Twitter also suspended her in April, but that turned out to be unjustified.
