In the TV show Matthijs Continues the winners of Edison Pop 2021 have been announced. Singer Eefje de Visser and rock group Di-rect won two prizes.
De Visser won two Edisons Bittersweet, winner in the Alternative category as well as in the Album category.
Di-rect won Edisons for the album Wild Hearts (Rock category) and for the song Soldier On.
Other winners are Davina Michelle for her album My own world (Pop), Kevin for Animal Stories (Hip Hop), Lucas & Steve for Letters to remember (Dance), Sophie Street for It’s not my fault (Hollands) and Rob de Nijs for It has been good (Dutch).
Akwasi received the Edison for the best video clip: Ecstasy.
The Edison for the best newcomer has not been awarded. It was intended for Bilal Wahib for the song Tigers. The jury decided not to award him after Wahib was discredited this week for persuading a minor in a live stream to show his cock.
Earlier this week it was announced that the Edison Pop Oeuvre Prize has gone to hip-hop duo The Opposites.
