Many students who pass their exams often have weeks or even months of vacation. You can get very bored in such a holiday. Adults can also suffer from this, for example if you lose your job, go on maternity leave, or simply stop working, you suddenly have plenty of time. In this article a number of tips to get through these weeks / months.
Rhythm
First of all, keep your rhythm. Don’t go to sleep very early one night and very late the next. The same goes for getting up, do not get up very early but do not lie in your bed for very long either. Because you have plenty of time, the temptation is that you do what you need to, eat when you feel like it and sleep when you are tired. Make sure you have a set time for you to go to sleep and also a set time for you to wake up. It’s okay if this is late every night, for example, but make sure you can keep it up. It should not be the case that you are exhausted after weeks because you always went to sleep too late. For example, go to sleep around 11:30 every night and get up around 8:30 every morning. Rhythm also applies to your food, make sure you eat at regular times and do not skip meals. Eat healthy too.
Target
Set goals for yourself. Agree with yourself: I want this done by the end of the week. You then work towards your goal and this also makes it easier to keep to your rhythm. Below are a few examples of goals:
- Paint house
- Reading books
- Doing chores
- Tidy
- Create photo book
- to lose weight
- Do course
- Days out
- sports / walking / cycling
- On visit
- Embroidery / painting / crochet / knitting / sewing / quilting
- Redecorate / decorate your room / house
A summer job also be a ‘goal’. Find a holiday job that you enjoy, after all you have a holiday and you have to do things you enjoy during your holiday. An advantage of a job as a ‘goal’ is that you earn money with it. To find a holiday job, you can register with an employment agency, but you can of course also search for yourself. At an employment agency, the people of the employment agency will look for you and you will also receive payment through the employment agency. If you look up yourself, you will receive payment through the company where you work. Ask your friends if they know a nice job for you or go look for a job together with your friends, then you will have nice colleagues anyway!
Orientate
Find out about what you will do after your holiday, do you go to work, start training or travel. Immerse yourself in this. If you are on a new study it is smart to go to open days, read the website carefully, look at reviews of schools, explore the city where you are going to study and take a look at the route to your school and maybe already to travel. By doing these things you already know a little bit what to expect after your vacation.
suppose you go after your vacation to travel it is smart to go through your journey carefully. Take a look on google maps where exactly you are going and what it looks like there. Gather information about the countries you are going to, so you know what to look out for and what could be useful.
Do you go one after another after your vacation new job Then find out things about the company / institution where you will be working. It’s easy if you already know everything about the company before you start working there. Also find out where the company is, and how you can get there the cheapest and easiest.
Enjoy!
Enjoy your holiday! Above all, do things that you enjoy. Make sure you can look back on the weeks of vacation you have had with a positive feeling. So make sure you do useful things that are useful to you and that you can be proud of. For example, you can go on vacation, discover new things, now you have the time!
