Wife drives husband to police to escape pursuers, flees to forest

A former Thai boxer’s wife, Jotaniya, became distressed after her husband, Santhit, was pursued by police. She hijacked a police car, forced the officer to drive her to Ayutthaya, and escaped into the forest.

On October 3, at 19:00, police pursued Santhit, 39, wanted for burglary. He fired at officers and fled into a neighboring house while damaging security cameras to avoid capture.

By 21:30, police called in special operations and used drones to monitor Santhit, who refused to surrender despite negotiation attempts.

Santhit is a former boxer known for displaying aggressive behavior, including carrying a weapon and wearing body armor. The incident escalated when officers eventually cleared another two individuals from the house safely, while Santhit remained at large.

At 01:00, Jotaniya was spotted fleeing the scene and was found threatening self-harm with a gun due to stress over her husband’s situation, unaware he had already escaped.

She eventually demanded police prepare a vehicle for her escape. At 01:45, Jotaniya came out holding the weapon, forced the solo officer in the police car to drive her along Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, and then fled into the forest after being dropped off in Thanyaburi, Ayutthaya.

By 05:30, police attempted to evacuate the area and persuaded Jotaniya to surrender with the help of her husband’s former employer. She finally dropped the weapon and turned herself in, but was found distressed and with an injury from broken glass, prompting immediate medical attention from the police hospital.

Subsequent investigations were initiated by officers to secure the area and gather evidence regarding the abandoned firearm and trace the sequence of events during the incident.
