The police chief of Pathum Thani, Pol. Gen. Yutthana Jonkhun, announced the arrest of two teenagers involved in an organized crime incident related to illegal gun trading that resulted in a fatal shooting. The incident occurred on October 7, 2024, when a 17-year-old, referred to as “Yoh,” was shot dead in a robbery gone wrong in Klong Luang area.

Police apprehended the suspects, 17-year-old “Fan” and 18-year-old “Bangmin,” after a swift investigation that lasted less than 17 hours. They were found at a gas station in Pathum Thani, where the police also confiscated a shotgun and a Sig Sauer pistol along with several rounds of ammunition.

Following the incident, police noted a concerning trend of increasing crime being committed by youths aged 14-18. In response, the Pathum Thani police will implement stricter measures, including regular checks on groups of teenagers riding motorcycles at night, to prevent similar crimes and ensure weapons are monitored for any previous criminal involvement.

Additionally, the parents of the accused revealed to the media that the firearms were entrusted to their son prior to the crime, indicating a potential ongoing issue with youth and gun possession in the area.
