Police deny claims of intimidating “Boss Paul” victim’s home search

The Royal Thai Police have denied recent rumors circulated by a Facebook page that they searched a victim’s house on the orders of “Boss Paul” to intimidate the victim for filing a complaint. They stated that these claims are “not true.” The actual reason for the police check was to address a threat made by a company member who posted a startling message threatening a mass shooting that could result in 300 casualties amid ongoing disputes with The Icon Group Ltd.

On October 14, 2024, it was reported that a viral post on the Facebook page “E-Sor Kyi News” falsely alleged that the police were intimidating a complainant by raiding their home. Investigations revealed that the police raid actually took place on May 8, 2024, several months earlier than the claims made by the page.

The origin of the police search followed a complaint made by The Icon Group Ltd. on April 22, 2024, regarding a threat made by Mr. Natthanan Angi, aged 43, who threatened to commit a mass shooting during an upcoming expo organized by the company on May 11-12, 2024. After receiving this information, the GPP acted to investigate the threat and sought court permission to search Mr. Natthanan’s home in Chiang Rai to prevent any potential danger.

During the raid, no illegal items were found, and Mr. Natthanan was not present. Authorities later contacted his relatives to bring him in for questioning, which he agreed to and subsequently provided explanations regarding the conflict with The Icon Group Ltd. He was cautioned about his threatening posts and encouraged to take legal action against the company if needed.

Police sources confirmed that the allegations made by the Facebook page were false and that the events related to the police checks occurred months prior to the ongoing disputes, asserting that the actions taken were legally justified and aimed solely at preventing any potential violent incidents.
