Assets seized: Over 63 rai of property from The Icon valued at 1 billion

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has seized over 63 rai of land from The Icon Group, valued at no less than 1 billion baht, on October 16, 2024. They are set to coordinate with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) to convert the property into funds to compensate victims.

At 16:00 on October 16, 2024, DSI officials inspected and confiscated the land situated along Kanchanapisek Road, across from Western University, in Patum Thani province. The DSI’s investigation revealed that The Icon Group, owned by Boss Paul, purchased three plots of land to expand their business, which includes constructing a conference hall and online learning centers, branded as The Icon City. The land was seized to prevent its transfer.

Boss Paul acquired the land in 2021, initially purchasing 30 rai and 4 rai in two separate transactions, followed by an additional 29 rai in 2022. Preliminary investigations suggest possible money laundering and fraud against the public.

Witness testimonies indicate that DSI officials may have accepted benefits from The Icon Group; however, details are unclear, and no specific individuals or departments have been identified. DSI assures they are taking these claims seriously and will investigate further. Should there be any involvement of officials, a fact-finding committee will be established. Currently, the DSI is involved in the investigation but does not consider it a special case yet.
