A 70-year-old man from Macau has reported a fraud case against the Icon Group, claiming he lost over 250,000 baht after being lured into investing in the business. The report was filed at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on October 20, 2024, by Mr. Ittichad Thanetwattan, a representative for foreign victims.
The victim, known as Mr. K, was convinced to invest by a Thai acquaintance living in Hong Kong, who touted the business’s profitability. After attending an online sales training in Thailand in late 2024, he found himself receiving incomplete orders from the company, such as only receiving 20 sachets of coffee instead of the 100 expected. When he inquired, he was told the products were out of stock.
Mr. Ittichad revealed that the victim was shocked to learn of the company’s dubious reputation and decided to reach out to his Thai friends in Hong Kong for assistance in reporting the issue in Thailand. He noted that while the victim focused on selling products, he was urged to recruit additional members for the investment scheme.
Furthermore, Mr. Ittichad plans to assist more victims, both Thai and international, in filing complaints with Thai authorities on October 25, indicating this case may involve multiple affected parties.
