Boss Paul’s lawyer claims evidence of extortion from singer G.

Lawyer Witoon Kengngan claims to have evidence that “Singer G.” extorted 10 million baht, followed by an additional request for 400,000 baht in cash. He stated that payments were made out of fear of trouble from potential lawsuits.

On October 21, 2024, Witoon visited the Bangkok Special Prison to see his client Boonpol, the CEO of The Icon Group. Due to paperwork issues, he could not meet Boonpol and instead met with another suspect, Bhopan. Their discussions focused on company operations and ongoing legal cases, but details remain confidential. Witoon indicated that the defense team is now unified, coordinating their efforts on legal strategy and the mental well-being of their clients. Boonpol is reportedly doing well, while another client, Thawin, requires medical attention for cancer.

Authorities are considering adding charges such as fraud and violations of computer laws, but the defense team is focusing on the primary charges. Witoon clarified that the company must show valid sales transactions to defend their actions and mentioned a registration window for victims that will close on October 31.

Witoon refuted claims made by a self-identified witness of the events and stated they are not concerned. He discussed the existence of audio recordings related to the extortion case. The alleged extortion by “Singer G.” occurred between February and May, with 10 million paid in one lump sum followed by a 400,000 baht cash request purportedly for document processing costs.

Witoon further explained that the singing accuser, while intimidating, was acting typically for extortion cases, implying that clients may prefer to comply to avoid legal issues. He noted their apprehension regarding potential license revocation by the Consumer Protection Department and indicated that if the license is revoked without proper evaluation of their case, they will fight back legally.

Witoon maintained that the firm has not yet had communication with police regarding further questioning of suspects. He dismissed speculations about other singers being involved in extortion beyond the highlighted case.

As this situation unfolds, Witoon reiterated the importance of following proper legal protocols, emphasizing that any abrupt action against their licenses could lead to legal action against officials involved.
