Land inquiry on Boss Kant in Chiang Mai: Bought for 2.5M, sold for 40M

Authorities conducted an inspection of land owned by Kant Kantathavorn, also known as “Boss Kant,” in Chiang Mai, discovering that the property has a legally valid title deed. He purchased the land for 2.5 million baht and listed it for sale at 40 million baht.

On October 21, the Investigation and Suppression Division of Chiang Mai conducted a field inspection of the land following indications from a popular social media page questioning whether the property resides in a forest zone and if it was acquired through the “iCon Group” business activities.

The inspection, utilizing drone technology, revealed that Boss Kant’s property, measuring 7 rai and 70 square wah, is adjacent to Wat Kiri Khet in Hang Dong district and isolated from protected forest areas. Currently, he has leased out the land for vegetable cultivation.

The land carries a valid title deed issued on March 25, 2010, and Kant bought this property on November 30, 2018, from a Bangkok resident for 2.5 million baht. The assessed value at the time was approximately 2,152,500 baht.

On March 21, 2022, Kant applied to subdivide 70 square wah of public land from the estate, still retaining the main area of 7 rai. Notably, he had previously attempted to sell the property on Instagram for 40 million baht, but it has yet to be sold as it became involved in the iCon Group controversy.

Authorities are currently investigating properties owned by 18 individuals linked to the iCon Group, discovering purchases in Northern Thailand, including Chiang Mai and Lampang.
