The security forces have discovered clues regarding the suspects involved in the gun robbery and arson at the Hala-Bala Wildlife Sanctuary in Narathiwat Province. It is believed that they belong to a faction led by Mansor Puteh and are likely to have sought refuge in the neighboring jungle, utilizing their knowledge of the terrain.

On September 23, a joint team led by military and police officials conducted an investigation at the site where three staff houses were burned, and explosives were used to access a vault containing firearms stored within the sanctuary’s office.

Initial investigations revealed that three explosive devices were detonated, with one on September 21, and two more on September 22. The damage to the office was significant, with only a small part of the entrance door remaining intact. Evidence of the explosion included a destroyed safe and remnants of firearms and documents.

Key evidence collected includes an explosive container that appears to weigh 15 to 20 kg, metal shrapnel, a digital timer mechanism, and explosives. The three explosive devices were remotely detonated, and collected evidence will undergo forensic examination, including fingerprint analysis to identify the perpetrators.

The investigation started at the office where the explosion occurred and will continue with examinations of the three burned houses, which are expected to take one to two days. Access to the site is restricted to preserve vital evidence.

Following the incident, security forces have dispatched teams to track the suspects, who are believed to have escaped into the jungles of the neighboring country. The perpetrators are linked to a group led by Mansor Puteh and are known to be involved in previous security-related crimes in the region.
