The Governor of Phrae has mobilized emergency teams to respond to rising water levels in the Yom River and has set up relief centers for affected residents.
On September 24, at 9 PM, Governor Chutidej Meejan chaired a meeting to assess the flood situation in Phrae. Continuous rises in the Yom River water level have begun to flood homes in low-lying areas, with some locations reporting nearly 2 meters of water. Initial measures included the installation of large sandbags to mitigate potential flooding in economic areas within the city.
By 11 PM, water levels at Huay Sak recorded 7.26 meters, and at Koang station, levels reached 9.15 meters, causing overflow onto a bridge connecting the city with neighboring areas. The police have closed this route to prevent risks due to rising floodwaters.
Rescue units from the Phrae Volunteer Rescue Association, along with other local rescue teams, are actively assisting residents in flooded areas. Some villagers have already evacuated to shelters, while others remain in their homes. Coordination with neighboring Uttaradit province has been established to provide boats for further assistance.
Jirayut Kammuang, head of the Phrae volunteer rescue operations, reported that the water level keeps rising. Some residents have been assisted with evacuation while others are still inside their homes. Help is available via the provincial command center, and rescuers are on standby to respond.
Mayor Chokchai Phanomkwan estimated that the water level might peak at about 9.50 meters. The city has set up additional pumping stations in case of emergencies and expects water levels to decline by the next morning. The city plans to distribute food to affected communities.
