A 38-year-old veterinarian was arrested in Thailand for allegedly drugging and physically abusing his 4-year-old son. Authorities discovered a small armory containing multiple firearms and ammunition during a search of his residence.
On September 25, local officials, including Taimueng District Chief Swetchat Suwannarat and several other government officers, arrested the veterinarian, identified only as Mr. Songkrich, who operates an animal clinic in Taimueng, Phang Nga Province.
During the arrest at the Taimueng District Office, police found a Glock 9mm pistol, a Sig Sauer pistol, a Walther pistol, and various rounds of ammunition, as well as evidence of drug use based on a urine test. Mr. Songkrich reportedly had used methamphetamine prior to the incident.
The arrest followed a report from an anonymous citizen concerning the abuse of the child, along with concerns about Mr. Songkrich’s paranoid behavior and illegal possession of weapons, which prompted authorities to investigate for the child’s safety.
Initial charges against Mr. Songkrich include illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, carrying a firearm in public without permission, and drug offenses related to methamphetamine usage.
Following the arrest, authorities searched his residence and found additional firearms, including a shotgun and various types of ammunition. There are suspicions that Mr. Songkrich may have been involved in producing tranquilizer guns for online sale.
