The Department of Mineral Resources has issued a warning to several provinces in northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and southern Thailand concerning potential landslides and flash floods from September 24-26, 2024. The alert is due to a strong monsoon trough interacting with a low-pressure area, leading to heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters within a 24-hour period. Continuous rain over several days may saturate the soil, increasing the risk of landslides.
Volunteers from the Geological Disaster Monitoring Network are urged to remain vigilant, monitor rainfall, and promptly inform local communities about possible landslide and flash flood situations, while adhering to preparedness plans previously trained.
