The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) has launched an operation to dismantle a youth gambling network. Those arrested were found to have rapidly increased their wealth, transitioning from underground lottery operators to online gambling site owners, reportedly earning over 50 million baht within just four months.

On September 26, 2024, CSD chief Pol. Gen. Montree Techakan directed an operation led by Pol. Col. Phatarawut Onchao, targeting six locations in Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Udon Thani provinces. Four suspects were apprehended: 38-year-old Kanjana Rakphol, 28-year-old Sirita Thamma, 23-year-old Jetthakorn Paisitvorakul, and 46-year-old Onuma Petchmong. Authorities seized computers, mobile phones used for managing their websites, and 52 ATM cards as evidence.

The investigation originated from the discovery of a group of youths whose wealth appeared unusually high in a short time frame. An examination of their financial transactions from January to April 2024 revealed over 50 million baht in circulation, primarily sourced from online gambling activities. This prompted authorities to gather evidence and secure arrest warrants against the four individuals.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to having previously operated illegal lottery activities before transitioning into online gambling, including games like slots, baccarat, poker, and football betting, recognizing it as an easier method to earn money. They operated in a systematic manner, with roles assigned for account management, website administration, and financial transactions.

Charges against the suspects include operating an unlicensed online gambling business, conspiracy to commit money laundering with at least two individuals, and involvement in money laundering. They will be transferred to investigators at CSD for further legal proceedings.
