A bombing incident occurred in Narathiwat, where assailants detonated an explosive device targeting a pickup truck belonging to military rangers from the 4805th Ranger Company while they were returning from a tree-cutting operation. The bombing, which took place along the Taohang Road near Ban Talo, injured eight soldiers.

The explosion was reported at 11:20 AM on September 26, 2024, prompting Lieutenant Sarasin Kijwongwatanak to coordinate with local authorities, who then responded to the scene. They observed that approximately 200 meters before reaching the bombing site, a streetlight had been knocked down by the blast, and remnants of the explosive device were scattered around.

The damaged military pickup truck, a white Toyota, was found at a nearby base with significant damage due to shrapnel, specifically on the left side near the driver’s seat. It had been transporting six rubber wood logs for planned base renovations at the time of the attack.

The eight injured soldiers included: 1) Sergeant Major Thikhamphol Chaladchaem, with minor injuries and chest tightness; 2) Staff Sergeant Apivatan Prawat, with similar injuries; 3) Corporal Thepnimit Klinboon, who suffered serious injuries; and several others with varying degrees of injuries. They were transported to various hospitals for further treatment, with the most critically injured being sent to Songkhla Hospital in Hat Yai.

Preliminary investigations revealed that before the incident, Sergeant Major Thikhamphol and his unit of eight soldiers were returning from cutting wood for base improvement when the attack occurred. Assailants, hiding in nearby rubber plantations, detonated an explosive device placed by a utility pole and subsequently fired upon the pickup truck.

This attack is believed to be part of ongoing violent activities aimed at creating unrest in the area, indicating a persistent threat to the safety of military personnel.
